Initial Consultation
The first step of any treatment is for our team to get to know you as a patient. One of the biggest focuses in our patient relationships is maintaining honest communication, so you always understand your treatment plan. During your initial consultation, we will review your clinical records and X-rays so we can have a better understanding of your current oral health. Dr. Despot, our fearless leader, will meet with you to perform a comprehensive exam that typically lasts 30 minutes. After this exam, you’ll have the opportunity to share any concerns you may have and explain your expectations for treatment. Our team will use your results from the exam and the feedback you’ve given us to build a treatment plan that is tailored to you.
Treatment Plan
Our treatment coordinator is skilled at shaping treatment plans that truly reflect the patient’s orthodontic needs and goals. We’re working to deliver your dream smile, and we want to build a treatment that helps you get there. During this stage, you will discuss details such as appliances, timelines, financials, and more. Once you decide on the right treatment for you, we can plan a day for you to begin. For our patients who are excited to start their journey to dream smile and want to start right away, we offer same-day starts for braces.
Braces Day
One of the most exciting steps of the process is when you finally get your appliance. You’ll first meet with an assistant who’ll put on your braces. We want you to feel comfortable, and each of our team members is there to help you have a fun and easy treatment process. Our assistant will affix your braces to your smile and give you all of the information you need to clean your treatment and maintain your excellent oral health. Once you have your appliance on and understand how to take care of it, we will schedule your next visit for us to check in on your progress and make any necessary adjustments.
Routine Appointments
Throughout your treatment, you’ll have routine appointments so we can make sure you stay on the path to the smile you’ve always wanted. At the beginning of these appointments, an assistant will adjust your appliance so you have consistent pressure guiding your teeth into the correct position. Then, Dr. Despot will check your progression and discuss your next steps. These visits are relatively quick and are designed to keep you on course to your dream smile without keeping you in the chair for a long time. Depending on your appliance and progress, you’ll have adjustments every 6, 8, or 10 weeks.
Braces Removal Day
The only thing more exciting than getting your braces put on is getting them removed. Once you have completed treatment, we can take your braces off, and you can enjoy your healthier and more dazzling smile. Dr. Despot will perform one last check to make sure everything is in order, and he can answer any questions you have about after-treatment care. We will then complete the final clinical records and take impressions of your teeth. We will use these impressions to create retainers for your smile on the same day you get your braces removed. The last thing you have to do this day is schedule your one-month retainer check to make sure everything is going smoothly.
Retainer Process
Our practice is happy to offer one free set of retainers to our patients so they can have a worry-free after-treatment process. Retainers are designed to help you maintain the results you achieved during treatment by keeping your teeth from shifting back to their original spot. During your retainer appointment at our office, we will check the wear and fit of your retainer. If everything looks good and your perfect smile is still intact, we’ll direct you to continue wearing the retainer as directed and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
